Oh Grandma, Why Do We Memorize the Quran?
Childhood isn't truly happy without nurturing the correct faith. The pillars of true Islamic faith are: belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and in destiny, both its good and bad. From these six pillars stem all that must be believed in regarding the unseen, and all that Allah and His messenger, peace be upon him, informed us of. Belief in Allah also entails believing in everything He has mandated upon His servants and obligated upon them. At the forefront are the five pillars of Islam: bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger, performing the prayers, paying the alms, fasting in Ramadan, and pilgrimage to the Holy House of Allah for those who can afford the journey, as well as other obligations stipulated by the pure Sharia. Instilling the correct faith in the hearts of children must occur in a gentle and beautiful manner, tailored to the mental and intellectual capacities of the child, considering their psychological and emotional state, engaging their minds and hearts, and merging religious principles with practical ideas. We will only succeed in instilling true Islamic faith when we use the Islamic approach in nurturing it, starting from the Quran and the authentic teachings of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
Taking a step on this path, we present this educational series filled with practical ideas and meaningful stories, stemming from Islamic faith. In this story ('Oh Grandma, Why Do We Memorize the Quran?'), we will explore with Hassan the secrets of memorizing the Quran tenfold. When our children understand and apply them, they will love the Quran more and more, striving in its recitation, memorization, contemplation, and application, until they become the people of the Quran, who succeed in this world with its blessings and in the Hereafter with its intercession. We ask Allah for success and acceptance.
